I have been called a Renaissance man, a polymath, and even worse. I was once studying to be a professional philosopher but, thankfully, a professor talked me out of that (now I can afford to eat). Nonetheless, I have been a lifelong learner having earned five formal degrees as well as a stack of certificates in a variety of disciplines.

For the past seven years I have been researching, thinking, and writing, most particularly, about topics relevant to the 21st-century man: masculine philosophy, historical warrior classes and their ethos, classical notions of honor, as well as the importance of mythological frameworks in successful societies (e.g., Proto-Indo-European, Norse, Germanic, and Christian).

As an RN, wilderness first responder, certified personal trainer, strength coach, and martial artist, I also write on topics related to men’s health and fitness, austere medicine, and self-defense.

Men were made to be men. So be one!

I am a firm believer that the state of the body reflects the state of the mind and the state of the spirit.
